Staff
The staff of the LRC is charged with assisting MSU students in achieving their academic goals. Whether you're a first-year student or Ph.D. candidate, we're ready to help. After all, Resources is our middle name
Fred Barton, Coordinator
Dr. Barton received his B.A. and M.A. from Western Michigan University, and his Ph.D. from MSU. He has taught from seventh grade through graduate level in both public and private schools for more than 30 years. His specialties are reading, study skills, test taking strategies and time management. Currently he also teaches a Service-Learning class in the WRAC Department.
Jessica DeForest, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences Specialist
Jessica received her B.A. and M.A. from MSU. With undergraduate training in interdisciplinary humanities and graduate work past her M.A. in history, she is uniquely qualified in a wide range of subjects. Jessica has taught for more than 10 years in a variety of settings and currently teaches a Service-Learning class in the WRAC Department. In addition, she is the LRC liaison to the College of Nursing.
John A Dowell, Technology Literacy Specialist
John received his B.A. (English, psychology, sociology) and two M.A.s (sociology and folk studies) from Western Kentucky University, and ABD (American culture studies) from Bowling Green State University. Having taught university-level courses for more than 24 years, he currently teaches a Service-Learning class in the WRAC Department.
Sam Drake, Mathematics Specialist
Sam received his B.S. from Cleveland State University and his M.S. from MSU. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in measurement and quantitative methods at MSU. Sam has taught for 12 years in a variety of settings and levels.
Michelle Hall, Office Manager
Michelle has been with the LRC for four years. Previously she worked in the Undergraduate University Division office. She has been with MSU for eight years.
Angelica Leitmannova Liu, Science Constultant
Angelica has been at MSU for 18 years. She received her undergraduate degrees in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology from the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovak Republic (former Czechoslovakia); her M.S. and Ph.D. are in Biophysics from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany, and her DrSc. Degree is in physics and mathematics from Comenius University. Angelica has also worked as a preceptor in the training of 2nd year medical students at MSU. Jennifer Malinowski, Environmental Sciences Specialist
Jennifer received her M.S. in natural resources from The Ohio State University. Her concentration was environmental communication, education and interpretation. She graduated with a B.S. from Lyman Briggs School at MSU in 2001. Her major was Zoology. She has worked in a variety of settings, most recently as Program Manager for the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association.
