Becoming a Tutor
Few things are as satisfying as helping another person reach their goals. Being a tutor for the Learning Resources Center means you work daily with students, Center staff and faculty to ensure that everyone gets the maximum benefit from their MSU experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Minimum 3.5 in courses you wish to tutor
- Enrolled for at least one credit hour at MSU
- At least sophomore status
- Knowledge of learning styles and study skills helpful
Duties
- Tutor students individually or in a group setting
- Provide students with study and test taking strategies
- Assist LRC staff with various projects
- Other duties as needed
The LRC will be seeking tutors for the following courses:
- Biology (110, 111)
- Chemistry (141, 142, 143, 151,152, 251, 252)
- CSE101
- Mathematics (MTH 1825, 103, 110, 112, 114, 116, 124, 132, 133)
- Physics (183, 184, 231, 232)
- Statistics (STT 200, 201, 315; MSC 317)

Becoming a Lab Aide
Being a Lab Aide for the Learning Resources Center means working with students, Center staff and faculty - as well as with current computer hardware and software - to ensure that everyone gets the maximum benefit from their MSU experience.
Qualifications
- Enrolled for a minimum of 1 credit hour at MSU
- Skillsets associated with working in a busy computer lab
- Successful completion of CSE101 with a 3.0 or above strongly preferred
- Must have work-study [MSU-specific info here; generally, one qualifies by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and by demonstrating a high level of financial need]
Duties
- Distribute and maintain security of LRC Lab assets
- Assist students individually or in a group setting
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
- Assist faculty in working with hardware and software
- Assist LRC staff with various projects
- Other duties as needed
